People just assume I’m Tunisian – the Irishman at Club World Cup

As an Irishman attending the Club World Cup in Qatar, John Manning never expected to be mistaken for a Tunisian.

“It’s quite amusing, really,” Manning said. “People here automatically assume I’m Tunisian because of my appearance.”

Despite the mix-up, Manning has enjoyed his time at the tournament, cheering on his favorite team and experiencing the unique culture of Qatar.

He explained, “The hospitality here is incredible. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming.”

While Manning may not have expected to be mistaken for a Tunisian, he has taken it in stride and used it as an opportunity to learn more about the diverse backgrounds of those attending the event.

He added, “It’s been a great experience to meet people from all over the world and share in the excitement of the tournament.”

As the Club World Cup continues, Manning looks forward to cheering on his team and making more memories in Qatar.
